Who can book

MoU hotels are open to defence personnel. Eligibility is read from the verified service record on your udChalo account rather than from anything entered at booking time; what differs by rank is the entitlement, not the access.

Entitled room rate

Each pay level carries its own entitled base rate per night, GST exclusive, as promulgated by the Govt of India. Where a stay sits above that rate the difference is shown as a top-up before you pay.

Food charges

A daily food entitlement applies alongside the room rate and is GST inclusive. It covers breakfast and one major meal, and is invoiced as a separate line item so it can be claimed separately.

Occupancy

Pay levels 12 and above are entitled on single occupancy. At pay levels 9 to 11 a 5-star stay is entitled on double occupancy, while 4-star and 3-star stays are single occupancy.

GST and invoicing

The hotel GSTIN appears on the invoice, with room and food as separate line items and the GST rate and amount stated separately, which is what a reimbursement claim needs.

Cancellation terms are set per property and per rate, exactly as on a public booking. The applicable terms are shown against the rate before you pay.

Chennai is the capital of Tamil Nadu and the gateway to South India, a city that blends deep Tamil heritage with a large modern economy in IT, automobiles and healthcare. It draws business travellers to its office corridors, tourists to its temples and Marina Beach, medical visitors to its well-known hospitals, and a constant flow of transit passengers heading further south.

Where you stay depends on your purpose. Egmore and George Town near Chennai Central hold the budget and heritage rooms and the railway links. T Nagar, Nungambakkam and Anna Nagar are the central shopping and business districts. The IT corridor runs south down Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) through Perungudi, Sholinganallur and Thoraipakkam, while Mylapore, Adyar and Besant Nagar offer temples, the coast and a quieter residential feel.

The city covers every budget. Budget hotels concentrate around Egmore, Central and T Nagar, mid-range business hotels fill Nungambakkam, Guindy and the OMR corridor, and the luxury hotels sit around Nungambakkam, the ECR seafront and the airport. The airport at Meenambakkam is relatively close to the centre, which keeps transfers manageable.

Timing matters in Chennai. November to February is the pleasant, cooler window, while March to June is hot and humid. Fauji rates are a defence discount applied on top of public inventory and are shown on the regular Chennai hotel pages. An MoU stay is booked against your TD entitlement at a property tied up under the MoU, and carries the tied-up inclusions such as breakfast, a major meal and laundry.
