Hotel choice in Madurai is shaped by its role as a major temple, textile and regional transport city centred on the Meenakshi complex and busy bus and rail gateways. A visitor planning pilgrimage, rituals and short family visits will not necessarily benefit from the same area as someone making a short transit or work stop.

Use Meenakshi Temple Area for the main visitor zone, compare Town Hall Road and Mattuthavani for access and value, and look at KK Nagar when that part of the itinerary matters most. Tallakulam and Bypass Road broaden the search beyond the obvious centre.
