Entitled room rate
Each pay level carries its own entitled base rate per night, GST exclusive, as promulgated by the Govt of India. Where a stay sits above that rate the difference is shown as a top-up before you pay.
Food charges
A daily food entitlement applies alongside the room rate and is GST inclusive. It covers breakfast and one major meal, and is invoiced as a separate line item so it can be claimed separately.
Occupancy
Pay levels 12 and above are entitled on single occupancy. At pay levels 9 to 11 a 5-star stay is entitled on double occupancy, while 4-star and 3-star stays are single occupancy.
GST and invoicing
The hotel GSTIN appears on the invoice, with room and food as separate line items and the GST rate and amount stated separately, which is what a reimbursement claim needs.

About staying in Shillong
Shillong is a compact hill capital and base for Meghalaya road trips, with heavy weekend traffic and attractions extending well beyond the city. Travellers come for cool-weather breaks, viewpoints and outdoor trips, and choosing the right side of the destination can remove unnecessary local travel.
Police Bazaar, Laitumkhrah and Polo are the first areas to compare for a convenient base. Consider Lachumiere or Nongthymmai when the itinerary centres on a specific attraction, office or onward route; Upper Shillong is another useful fallback when central rooms are limited.
